RoboForm's built-in browser leverages a modern, lightweight ad-blocking approach powered by a well maintained EasyList ruleset. The browser fetches an up-to-date list of known ad and tracker domains, giving us a comprehensive and community-vetted blocklist.
When a page loads, our WebView integration intercepts each resource request and checks it against the ruleset before it ever reaches the network. If a request matches a blocked pattern, the WebView is instructed to treat that resource as restricted, it simply never renders it. No ads are downloaded, no trackers fire, and no extra content ever reaches your screen.
The result is a faster, cleaner browsing experience baked directly into RoboForm, with no additional extensions or configuration required.
How to Set Up the RoboForm Ad Block Feature
1) In the RoboForm Android app, tap the 3 dots [...] in the upper right corner. Then, select "Settings" from the menu.
2) Select "Browser" from the Settings menu.
3) At the bottom of the page, you will see three options under the "Ad Blocker Configuration" section:
- Ad Blocker - When enabled, allows RoboForm to block ads on sites when using the RoboForm Browser.
- NOTE: If a page you are attempting to view does not load correctly, we recommend disabling this feature.
- Ad Blocker DNS - This option allows you to select a specific ad block provider.
- NOTE: When selecting your provider, we recommend using ControlD or Cloudflare.
- Ad Blocker exception list - Sites you add to this list will still show ads even when the RoboForm Ad Blocker is enabled.
4) Configure your ad blocking settings as you would like. From now on, these settings will be active when using the RoboForm Browser.
