NOTE: In the below setup instructions for trusted devices (iOS or Android Passkey) we show how to store 2FA passkeys in your device's built-in manager. This keeps your second factor outside RoboForm and ensures redundant access on new or reset devices.
You can also store 2FA passkeys inside RoboForm for convenience, though this places both authentication factors in the same location.
If your 2FA passkey is stored in RoboForm and you get locked out, you'll need to use email or another fallback option.
Trusted DeviceSetup Instructions: iOS Passkey
1) Open your browser and click the RoboForm extension icon. Click the 3 dots in the upper right corner. Select "Settings" from the menu.
2) In the Settings menu, select "Log In &Security" from the column on the left. Then, select the "Two-factor authentication" option.
3) Click the “Add 2FA Method” button at the bottom of the list of authentication methods.
4) Select “Passkeys” from the listed authentication options.
5) You will be prompted to select the method of saving a passkey, select your iOS device.
6) You will be presented with a QR Code. Open your iOS device’s camera and scan the QR code.
7) Your iOS device will prompt you to save the passkey. Ensure that you select the “Passwords” option instead of the “RoboForm” option. Then, tap the blue “Continue” button.
8) RoboForm will confirm that the passkey has been saved. Click “OK” on this message.
Trusted Device Setup Instructions: Android Passkey
1) Open your browser and click the RoboForm extension icon. Click the 3 dots in the upper right corner. Select "Settings" from the menu.
2) In the Settings menu, select "Log In &Security" from the column on the left. Then, select the "Two-factor authentication" option.
3) Click the “Add 2FA Method” button at the bottom of the list of authentication methods.
4) Select “Passkeys” from the listed authentication options.
5) You will be prompted to select the method of saving a passkey, select your Android device.
6) You will be presented with a QR Code. Open your Android’s camera and scan the QR code.
7) Your Android will prompt you to save the passkey. Tap the blue “Save another way” option,
8) Select the “Google Password Manager” option.
9) You will be prompted to select whether you would like to use Google Password Manager for all your sign-in information. Tap the “Use once” button.
10) You will be prompted to confirm that you would like to save the passkey. Tap the “Create” button.
11) RoboForm will confirm that the passkey has been saved.
Setup Instructions: Hardware key on Windows
NOTE ABOUT HARDWARE KEY COMPATIBILITY: Only newer hardware keys that support passkeys can be used with RoboForm. For the below instructions we have used a Yubikey Security Key C NFC. System screens may differ slightly for other hardware keys.
1) Open your browser and click the RoboForm extension icon. Click the 3 dots in the upper right corner. Select "Settings" from the menu.
2) In the Settings menu, select "Log In &Security" from the column on the left. Then, select the "Two-factor authentication" option.
3) Click the “Add 2FA Method” button at the bottom of the list of authentication methods.
4) Select “Passkeys” from the listed authentication options.
5) You will be prompted choose where to save the passkey. Select the "Security Key" option. Then, click the blue "Next" button.
6) You will be prompted to confirm that you would like to set up your security key to sign in to RoboForm. Click the blue "OK" button on this message.
7) You will be prompted to confirm that you would like to let RoboForm see the make and model of your security key. Click the blue "OK" button on this message.
8) You will be prompted to enter your Windows PIN. Enter it and click the blue "OK" button.
9) Touch your security key.
10) You will receive a confirmation message that the security key is now ready for use.
Setup Instructions: Hardware key on Mac
