The RoboForm for Business client can be deployed to all users in a company by creating a Group Policy Object (GPO) through the company's Active Directory (AD). This allows a silent installation of RoboForm for every user in a company and does not require any action from the user or additional administrator privileges.
Note: The examples provided in this article are based on Windows Server 2016. Certain steps may not be applicable on other platforms.
Begin by verifying that the appropriate AD Domain Services and DFS Namespaces are installed and configured in your AD server. Place the RoboForm .msi installation package in the proper DFS Namespace. Once complete, the package will be visible on each target machine in the specified namespace; this allows each system to access it during the deployment.
Open the Group Policy Management Console (gpmc.msc) >> select the target domain.
Right click the domain >> select “Create a GPO in this domain, and Link it here…”
Follow these steps to configure the GPO:
1) Specify the name of the GPO >> click OK.
2) Right click on the created GPO >> click Edit.
3) Navigate to Computer Configuration >> Policies >> Software Settings >> right click on Software installation.
4) Select New >> Package.
5) Specify the path and name of RoboForm .msi installation package using the pre-specified DFS Namespace.
6) Set the deployment method to Assigned >> press OK.
The RoboForm .msi will now be displayed as a new package.
You can now close the Group Policy Management Editor and apply additional settings in the Security section. Additional options can be configured in the MSI deployment by running the command EXTCMDLINE followed by the desired setting. For instance (EXTCMDLINE="/lang=de-German" will install RoboForm using the German language pack.
Finish the process by switching to the target machine, preforming a “gpupdate”, and restarting the computer or logging the user out and then back in. The installation may take some time after the initial log in.
After logging back in, the RoboForm .msi will have been deployed and RoboForm will be installed on the user’s machine.
