If you've forgotten your Master Password, RoboForm offers recovery options, but they only work under certain conditions. Recovery is possible only on a device that:
- Was previously enrolled and authorized with two-factor authentication (2FA) on your RoboForm account, and
- Has not since been logged out of your account.
There are two recovery methods available: 2FA recovery and mobile app recovery.
NOTE: One of these methods must already be set up before you forget your Master Password. Recovery options can't be configured retroactively once access is lost. At least one 2FA method must be enabled, and you must do it from a device with active enrollment.
If you don't have access to the required 2FA method or an actively enrolled device, Account Recovery will not be available. In this case, you can use the standard Master Password reset process, but all RoboForm data associated with the account will be lost.
Using Account Recovery via 2FA
1) After a failed login attempt, click the blue "Forgot Password?" option below the Master Password field.
2) Select the "Recovery with Two-Factor Authentication" option.
3) On the next screen, click the green "One Time Code to email *****@*****.com" button. A code will be sent to your RoboForm account email.
4) Enter the code sent to your email to confirm your identity.
5) You will then be prompted to either sign in using a passkey or an authenticator code. For this example we will be using an authenticator code.
6) Enter the code from your authenticator app.
7) You will be prompted to create a new Master Password. Once you are finished entering your new Master Password, click the green "Change Master Password" button.
Using Account Recovery via Mobile App
NOTE: To recover your account via the mobile app, you will need to have enabled this feature on mobile prior to forgetting your Master Password.
